Has anyone used Prezi to make a presentation?

Prezi logoI did a presentation on Marketing and Social Media using the Prezi tool. Like most people I am getting very bored with PowerPoint, so I was pleased when someone told me about this newer tool (thanks Andrew Soobrian, @andrewsoobrian).

It is intuitively easy to create with Prezi – a bit like working on a large canvas – although it does not have the finesse of the other tool. (That could be because I was just using the “free” version of the software, of course). The style and flow of a Prezi presentation is a little different and that makes everyone sit up in their chairs a bit which is a good thing for an after dinner talk.

I am sure I did not use it to its full effect but I shall certainly give it another run for my next presentation.

Speaking to the Eastern Ontario Chapter of the CMA (Certified Management Accountants) my title was How CMAs Can Use Marketing and Social Media to Their Advantage.

The topics included:

  • What is Marketing?
  • How to use Marketing?
  • What’s the point of Social Media?

The Marketing thought

Anything that helps freshen a presentation or enables the audience to see something with a new pair of eyes, helps communicate the message.

Let me know if you have had experience, good or bad, with the Prezi tool.

Just a thought.

Nice presentation Tim! I’m glad you enjoyed Prezi. Your first Prezi is considerably better looking than mine. I got carried away with the zooming and spinning. I think it made the audience a little nauseous.

My thoughts exactly Andrew.

I think that I too got a bit carried away with the spinning. Has a disorienting effect for some of the audience.

However, completely agree that the audience was far more engaged than with a PowerPoint presentation. Even for those who do “good” PP, the Prezi platform is just so much more engaging. Only limiting factor is your creativity (and, of course, time!).
